"Well, you did leave her at the alter, when she was pregnant." "But that was ages ago." "Well, women tend to remember things like that..."

Run Fatboy Run - Simon Pegg, Thandi Newton, and Hank Azara.

Dennis leaves his pregnant girlfriend, Libby, at the altar. The movie then proceeds to move five years into the future. Libby has custody of the pairs five year old son. She is the owner of a prominent bake shop. Dennis is a "unfit" security guard at a lingerie store. Libby allows Dennis to visit and be a part of their son's life. Everything is progressing until Libby begins dating Whit, an aggressive American banker. Whit is the opposite of Dennis in every way - he's fit, wealthy, and ready to commit. The more Dennis learns about Whit, the more he hates him. When Dennis discovers that Whit is running a marathon in three weeks, in order win his family back. Dennis is trained by Libby's cousin, a gambler, and Dennis' landlord.

This movie has clear elements of humor. But it is not as strong as it could be. There are some definite gaps and valleys that causes this movie to fall a part. However, I think I would enjoy watching this again. Simon Pegg is delightful as is Dylan Moran, of Black Books. He is delightfully creepy and funny - he helps make this movie. But the plight of Whit while written on the wall is tragically sharp. Hints should have appeared earlier in the film. That being said, if one is a fan of Simon Pegg and romantic comedies - you'd enjoy this rental. If not catch it on tv.
