"Just don't ask me to lend you money." "Can I just have some?"
Knocked Up - starring Katherine Heigl (Alison) and Seth Rogen (Ben), this was the sleeper hit of the summer of 2007. The title captures the the essence of the film. A young tv producer celebrating a promotion flirts with a young average Joe she meets at a club and drunkenly decides to sleep with - there is a misunderstanding regarding contraceptive and 8 weeks later she discovers she is pregnant. Once the pregnancy is confirmed, a call and meeting arranged to let the father know, the two decide to see if they can make it work for the sake of the child and the fact that Ben is in love with Alison.
I wanted to enjoy this movie and laugh. But. I didn't. Perhaps this movie is best enjoyed with a crowd. Or maybe with less expectation. There were moments that were funny. There was an interesting story to be told. But again the movie was lacking in parts. I know parts were supposed to be funny and yet instead of being amused I was put off and irritated. I did like Paul Rudd, his character was not the most likable but he played his part well and I understood his character.
The motives of the characters were not quite clear. This movie is ok, just not what I had hoped. See it on tv.
