"Why am I only one drinking?"

It's Complicated - Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin, John Krasinski

Jane was married to Jake. They had two daughters and a son. He left her for his mistress and married her. Jane and Jake have been divorced for ten years. The original clan meet up in New York to celebrate the graduation of their son.

A side note, for the past ten years Jane, a baker, has been attempting to remodel her kitchen. She hires Adam an architect to assist her with this. He is taken with her almost immediately. She is not.

Back to New York, the former marrieds drink quite a bit as they are both abandoned - she by her children and he by his wife. They wind up in bed together. The plot thereby unfolds. Jake excited at the prospect with being with his ex who knows him so well and takes care of him accordingly. Adam the stalwart, patient, and very interested suitor. Jane unsure how she found herself in the position of being let down, infatuated by her ex and unsure what to do with a welcome suitable suitor.

*John Krasinski was a gem in this film as the husband of Jane and Jake's eldest daughter. He was superb as funny. *

I wanted to like this film more. It is at times funny and relatively good at keeping you guessing as to which suitor you should be rooting for. I was a tad irritated with Nancy Meyers trying to turn this star quality kilowatt film into an indie darling. This is not an indie darling film - there is no need to hold a shot of a swing in the rain. I was entertained, I would have edited the film differently, therefore, I would say wait to rent it. No need to see this on the big screen.
